“I thought corporate finance taught me pressure. Then I stood on my first construction site at 6:30am as a newly registered Building Practitioner — and realised I had only seen one side of responsibility.”
David’s path runs through three worlds — business, building and education. A Bachelor of Business gave him the commercial mind; his first unit development in the 1990s and a career of custom homes, townhouses and multi-unit projects gave him the builder’s hands; eighteen years teaching gave him the educator’s heart.
Across that career, students kept asking him the same question: “What do I do now to gain real experience?” The gap between what’s taught and what the job demands became the problem he set out to solve — first in the classroom, and now in a book and a wider mission for tomorrow’s builders.
